Welcome to Living Herbal Tea!
My name is Josh, and I’m an herbal tea and natural healing enthusiast and a classically trained Master Herbalist. I’ve been working with herbs, infusions, and tonics for as long as I can remember and this site is all about sharing them so that you can do the same.
While working with herbs may seem complicated, it’s really pretty simple. In fact, herbs are the original ‘medicine’ and they’ve been the most important way for us humans to find healing and empowerment as far back as we can go.
To make working with healing herbal tea as easy as possible for you, I’ve created this page so that you can get all the information, how-tos, and supplies you need with no second-guessing. Enjoy!
Just like I promised, working with herbal tea can be a snap – but there’s definitely a right way and a wrong way to make it happen.
I wrote a free book that I’d like to give you that will explain:
- What is herbal tea?
- How does it work?
- What can it heal?
- How do I brew healing herbal tea?
- How do I choose which herbs to use?
- How can I blend herbs in my own kitchen?
- How can I make and use healing herbal tea for myself and my loved ones with no special gear and no hassle?
I cover all of that in more in my free book, so if you haven’t gotten your copy, click the image below and do that now…
This site is literally jam-packed with information about individual herbs, herbal blends, illnesses and which herbs are known to help heal them, and lots of inspiration and ideas as well. Taking time to look around, use the site search bar, and browse the various sections will show you just how many healing herbal tea options you have and how fin and easy it is to work with plant medicine!
Here are some of the most popular areas on the site to get you started…
The Basics – Filled with how-tos, brewing tips, and more
Herb Profiles – Learn about the healing properties of popular tea herbs
Teas For Healing – See which herbal teas are best for various illnesses and imbalances
Herbal Tea Recipes – Get ideas about which herbs you can mix and match for big flavor and even bigger healing!
As you may have guessed, I am super picky about what kinds of herbs I use and where I get them. I only work with certified organic herbs and I only buy from sources that I trust. I also only buy herbs from sources who send the herbs in containers I can keep the herbs in – I hate having to spend money on jars and other storage containers once I add more herbs to my collection!
While there are many great sources out there, I have an absolute personal favorite that gets all my trust and recommendations. This amazing online shop will ship anywhere and they even have a very impressive selection of pre-made herbal tea blends you can check out if you’re not quite ready to buy plain bulk herbs.
A word of caution: While 4 ounces or 8 ounces may seem like a very small amount of herbs, they aren’t. An 8 ounce bag of chamomile flowers is huge and it can last me nearly a year! Don’t hesitate to buy the smallest quantity, especially of leaf or floral herbs – that may be all you can use within a 1-2 year period.
If you aren’t sure which herbs to buy first, start with one popular choice (chamomile, lemon balm, green, rooibos, etc.) and one or two that speak to specific things in your life you are trying to heal or work through.
You now have wisdom, inspiration, and herbs – and now it’s time to brew!
Have fun experiencing the various herbs you choose to work with. Take time to look at them, smell them, and look at pictures online of what they look like when they’re growing. All of this can help you memorize the various healing properties of each herb while also helping you to cultivate a personal relationship with them.
In no time you’ll be an herbal tea pro and you’ll be inventing your own blends, sharing them with the people you love whenever they’re needed most, and being inspired to take healing into your own hands.
